The Tronixpro Pioneer GT is our flagship three piece surf casting rod. Designed to push the boundaries of rod building technology by using the most advanced materials and design edges available. Our aim. To produce a lightweight, easy to use, powerful blank that has fantastic bite detection without detracting from its casting ability.

Our Aim

Our design philosophy when creating the Tronixpro Pioneer GT was simple. To design and create one of the worlds most advanced surf casting rods. A pioneer in its field, a rod that explores the capabilities of the best technology around to see exactly what can be achieved.

Construction

The Tronixpro Pioneer GT blank is constructed from 46 Ton Toray Carbon and Carbon scrim. This is a super volume fibre, high density, low resin carbon, often called SVF in the industry. Into this we incorporated our Nano Steel Technology (NST). This involves introducing minute strips of nano steel into the carbon weave to give the blank the ultimate in strength whilst maintaining optimal lightness.

The hybrid tip section is constructed of carbon and has been designed with incredible bite detection in mind. It blends seamlessly with the main blank.

Fittings

A rod of such stature requires the very best fixtures and fittings. We’ve gone to great pains to design the strongest, lightest blank we can, so why spoil it with substandard fittings.

Many people often discount the rings and reel seats fittings. They’re one of the most important parts of the rod and often, the most expensive element too.

For the reel seat we chose the Fuji DPS, it’s tried and tested and has never been bettered, so why change a winning formula? For a rod of this capability we made sure we went for the most reliable solution we could.

For the guides, only the best would do. We chose to use Fuji Torzite Guides throughout. Being titanium framed they are not only super light but incredibly strong, a feature that runs through the very fabric of this rod. Torzite rings are the next generation ceramic ring developed by Fuji, stronger and lighter than the original silicon carbide. Their design promotes not only lightness but ultra low friction qualities as well. Torzite rings posses a gently rounded cross section shape that promotes better contact of line to the ring when retrieving and better slippage through the rings when casting. They protect your line whilst gaining you those crucial extra yards.

We thought long and hard about each rings placement and orientation to come up with a configuration that works in the most efficient way possible.

The butt guide is a 40mm T-RVTG double foot chocking guide. This features an ultra lightweight high reverse frame design that is line friendly and reduces line tangle when casting and in all fishing situations.

Seventh to the third intermediate guides are T-KWTG guides in decreasing sizes from 20mm to 8mm. These are double foot guides adopting the K shaped frame concept. The second and first intermediate guides are T-KTTG guides in 8mm, a single foot designed specifically for tip sections. These guides all follow the KR tangle free design frame principle to release line tangles automatically for increased casting distances.

The tip guide is an 8mm T-KGTT “Arowana” ring. It’s the latest in tip ring design and incorporates a sloped bridge for tangle free line travel.

Using the Rod

To get the ultimate balance and performance from the Tronixpro Pioneer GT we recommend using a five or six ounce lead plus your bait. This gives you the best performance when casting to distance.

If you want to fish lighter, that’s no problem either. It’s lightweight construction makes this a fun rod to use when fishing with three to four ounces, ideal when you want to target bass and flatfish. We’ve field tested the rod across the UK and also abroad in Norway and we’ve had some great fun catching plaice, flounder, dabs, bass, garfish and a whole manner of other species with it.

When you up the casting weight to five or six ounces you will get the very best from the rod in terms of its casting performance. In field testing we’ve reached some incredible distances with good sized worm baits without too much effort. The casting efficiency, almost instant recovery and soft tip helps to fire baits to the horizon, when you need to, whilst protecting those important, delicate baits.

It has been designed primarily as a distance casting rod that has great bite indication. However, it also makes a great all round fishing tool giving it the versatility you’d expect from a rod that features the best of everything.
