The trouble with supporting juniors and youths is that they keep growing up!
It struck me recently that we only have one junior angler on the team and that’s not enough. We are committed to developing the sport from junior level upwards, so finding talented youngsters to join our ever expanding team of Prostaff is vitally important for us.
So, in searching out a well mannered, good natured youngster who we feel can represent the brands on many levels my thoughts turned to England international Joseph Smith who has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and is winning matches locally, generally fishing very well, already loves and uses a lot of our products and has been selected to represent England at the Home Nations and World Championships this year. Who better then to add to the team? Nobody in our eyes!
Joseph told us:
“My first ever fishing competition was on the local pier in 2010 and from there I worked on my progress and skills to get me where I am now, I had help from local fishing clubs and many top match anglers.
My biggest angling achievement has to be getting selected to fish in the England junior team and bringing back silver medals from Scotland 2014 and being selected again this year for the homes and world championships.
Before I started fishing big matches my best catch was a 5lb 3oz smoothound in my first ever local match. I have also come first overall in the last three years in both my local Deal and Dover junior fishing clubs.
One of my best catches is when we had a talent pathway at Samphire Hoe where I landed a 2lb codling and a 3lb pollack as well as loads of wrasse.
Neither can we buddy, welcome aboard!
